Being back in Paris feels amazing. I am trying to figure out what I want to get myself into and genuinely just enjoy the culture on my own terms this time. Last I was here in march I spent my time accompanying my friend Travis. This time having made some friends and connections I plan to couchsurf, meet more people and actually speak more than a few words of french. So far I have spent an evening of amazing conversation with my friend Fouad who I knew I had to visit after connecting with him at Travis going away party. We stayed in touch via facebook and talked about making music together. Now that I'm here I am staying at his place. Last night we ate Lebanese food and talked about the culture. His family is from Beruit. He showed me traditional dances, pictures of his brothers wedding and the seaside mountains and other beautiful sites of his town. We talked late into the night exchanging conversation in Arabic, and realizing we were destined to meet via our love of Kahlil Gibran who was from Lebanon and went to the same school as Fouad some years earlier ;P now I am drinking a coffee in montemarte and in a couple hours will be attending a CocoRosie concert! Im excited. Paris is having a drab summer very much like London. Its been rainy today and grey but I've already managed my way around town even haggaling a metro umbrella salesman so i woykd not get wet. Made friends with the local market worker who told me he'd show me around sometime or be of any help if I needed during my visit. Mailed a package via le postre via the automated machine, rode the metro with ease (I've found since Tokyo that I can figure out any metro system), and ate an entire large quiche and chocolate bar to the face on a park bench (I shared with a pigeon) ill write more later, as I realize I have been pretty bad at keeping up with my journey. Thanks for reading!
